Conveyor Basics for transportation to fully Integrated Systems
Implementing the right conveyor system revolves around complete understanding from order creation to applying the shipping label and truck loading process. We will consult with your warehouse team and start from carton creation through the picking and box building steps and follow the box to the dock. Different levels of automation can be added in future expansions or growth milestones, but making the customer aware of all capacity is most important.

Our Conveyor Equipment
MWS has Designed and Installed conveyor for distribution warehouses ranging from Health & Beauty to Ecommerce fulfillment for the past 46 years.

Gravity Conveyor
Enhance a very basic picking operation or aid in a small company ecommerce start up and always be used in other areas of the warehouse as the company grows. Gravity is the economical solution for temporary or lower-throughput zones that can be set up and taken down quickly.
Gravity conveyor ranging from 18” to 30” wide by 10’ long with standard height legs are all very commonly stocked items in new and used equipment.

Transportation Conveyor
Choosing the correct powered conveyor doesn’t always point to one specific option. Often layouts just require transportation of boxes or totes towards pack out areas and final processing. Live Roller and line shaft conveyor often make favorable choices for basic transportation.
Belt-over is extremely durable and dominates many layouts when using inclines and decline lines.

24-Volt Accumulation
Conveyor
With modern electrical driven systems, a 24 Volt accumulation conveyor is often the choice when a more complex or integrated system is being considered.
We offer the ability to consult with each customer, gather data and present options against the ROI. 24 Volt is very quiet operation, extremely energy efficient and Integrates to EZlogic ®

Zero Pressure Conveyor
Allows products to accumulate anywhere on a zone by stacking up and touching other products or boxes and won’t crush boxes.
Zero pressure systems require much more programming and controls but allow for future expansion or reconfigurations. Zero pressure conveyor are often the choice of accumulation for Ecommerce & Fulfillment Centers where products are likely to accumulate before an in-motion scale, hold zone or automated box taping machine.
In-Motion Scales
Can be integrated to zero pressure accumulation conveyor and controls package to allow hands free in-motion weighing of boxes traveling to the box lid machine or taper. Controls will be Integrated to the customer’s MWS system and reporting is documented.

Minimum Pressure Accumulation Conveyor
Allows manual adjustment and typically much less expensive than zero-pressure. Products should be close in cube and size and feed very basic in line accessories progressing to final pack out or box taper machines.
COMPONENTS
Conveyor System Add-Ons
Adding components to your existing conveyor system will reduce labor and increase productivity.
01
Print and Apply Machines
Are often highly considered downstream of the In-motion scale zone. The print and apply is also working equipment that allows boxes to travel across an accumulation conveyor and the shipping label, weight and other customized label information applied at higher rates as boxes stay in motion.

02
Air Activated Pop-Up Diverts
Are a great way to create quality control processes using lane diverts and verification either scanning or imaging the shipping label, weight or other irregularities that may exist. We have air actuated diverts in many conveyor line layouts, they are reliable and durable with normal preventive maintenance schedules.

03
Shipping Sorter

04
Gravity Dock Loader
Properly diverting products from the sorter to the truck for loading includes the design of a functional spur line routing product into the Van truck for loading. A small decline using a gravity conveyor to send the box towards the dock door and onto a dock expandable conveyor are a very basic way shipping containers are manually loaded.
The expandables can be manually operated conveyors meaning; manually pulled into the truck and pushed back into the closed position. Or, fully powered non-conveyors can drive into the truck and retract under power.

I-Pack Cartoning System
MWS can consult with your company to realize throughput data and better understand projected growth plans, equipment addition phases to what levels of automation can be integrated in each phase. Equipment and Automation grow with your company and maximize the Return of Investment.
One level of Conveyor Automation that can greatly reduce labor and increase efficiency would be to implement an inline cartoning system such as the Sealed Air I-Pack. Conveyor feeds the corrugated shipping boxes formed at the case erector through the I-Pack and forms and seals the “lid” to squeeze out air.
We have seen 24 months or less Return of Investments, ultimately the customer adding another conveyor Spur line and additional I-Pack for even greater throughput.
For all Conveyor System Projects
Turn-Key Design, Sales, Installation
& Preventative Maintenance
01
Conveyor Design
& Consultation
MWS offers comprehensive design and consultation installation of any size conveyor project or layout being considered.
We have the experience and conveyor partners from trained equipment to control experts waiting to make your next project a success.

02
Preventative Maintenance
& Spare Parts
Preventative maintenance long after start-up is complete is just the beginning of conveyor system ownership. It’s imperative and experienced staff monitor and maintain chains, bearings, belt alignments just to name a few. Having adequate spare parts inventory is also critical.

Key Benefits for adding
Conveyor Equipment
Conveyor is scalable with business growth and a comprehensive growth review should be considered to plan those growth phases out accordingly. Gravity lines today might not work tomorrow. Transportation conveyor today might need to be accumulation tomorrow.
Conveyor will increase productivity immediately, often seeing 24 months or less ROI. Upfront Consultation and data collection parallel with equipment layout, is the most valuable time spent when considering an optimal conveyor system.
Floor supported and ceiling hung conveyor routed through other real basic pallet rack or material handling equipment can increase throughput and possibly delay additional brick and mortar expansions required to obtain increased throughput. We can often delay square foot expansions with small equipment layout modifications and adding conveyor.
Conveyor will reduce labor and free up people to help in other areas of operations. If you are weighing manually or applying a shipping label, in-motion scales or Print – Apply will reduce labor and increase rates through the line.
How we keep your
Conveyor Project on Track

01
Layout Consultation and Estimating

MWS will consult with your warehouse project team and study data, growth expectations when new levels of automation will be implemented. We will be using Auto-Cad or Simulation software to explore and test out the layouts and throughput challenges as we create the conveyor layout.

02
Scheduling Levels of Installation through your conveyor project

All installations start with the mechanical conveyor installation, building the very front of the shipping system first and progressing through the design ultimately finishing with the dock loading equipment. MWS will coordinate with Mettler, Panther, Sealed-Air or other conveyor accessory manufacturers to get that equipment brought online as soon as it’s set in place. Finally the controls
group will handle integration of the conveyor automation and WMS systems to get the project pushed for start up date.

03
Service calls and Preventative Maintenance

MWS has trained a knowledgeable service staff for planned scheduled maintenance, as well as unplanned emergencies. If you choose to have MWS provide service work, we often will take the lead and identify all critical spare parts that should be on hand.

Conveyor FAQ’S
Can MWS Help us if we have a different brand conveyor?
Yes, we have worked with many brands of conveyor over the years. We have plenty of experience with most brands accumulation and transportation conveyor, drives, chains rollers, bearings – etc. Adding a new conveyor to existing layouts can be achieved quite easily when keeping drive styles similar.
What Brand Conveyor Does MWS prefer to use for New projects?
When we have the chance to be involved with new warehouse projects, we prefer to use Hytrol Conveyor partnered with Lafayette Engineering for controls.
We already have Conveyor in house, can MWS help us with service work?
MWS has trained crew members with experience to do preventative maintenance on most
brands and drive styles conveyor. We can do a initial walk through of your conveyor layout and provide you with costs aligned with your expectations and requirements. We often maintain with labor and parts other existing conveyor equipment.
